About Weymouth Housing Authority

The Weymouth Housing Authority, incorporated in May 1948 by a vote of Town Meeting, under Chapter 121B of the Mass. General Laws, is an autonomous local government subdivision, which owns, manages, and maintains State and Federally subsidized public housing developments, and leased housing programs, within the Town of Weymouth. The Weymouth Housing Authority currently owns and manages five (5) low income housing developments within the community. These are in order to provide and maintain affordable housing for low and moderate-income elderly; families in need within the community, as well as the disabled. The WHA is overseen by a five (5) person Board of Commissioners, four (4) of which are appointed by the Mayor and one (1) is appointed by the Governor. They are a policy setting Board with the help of the Executive Director, whose role is to implement the policies and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Housing Authority.

It is the MISSION of the WHA to provide affordable, decent, safe, and sanitary housing through the preservation of our existing housing units, along with the development of new housing units. To adopt appropriate maintenance, and management policies and procedures to insure the efficient and responsive operation of the Weymouth Housing Authority. To create an environment which enables residents to live responsibly, with dignity and peace of mind?



To support residents in their efforts to achieve self-sufficiency. To honor public commitments in a fiscally and ethically responsible manner. To create and maintain public confidence in the Weymouth Housing Authority's operations and staff. To ensure that the facilities owned by Weymouth Housing Authority are viable in the community and are appealing to the residents.



To enable Weymouth Housing Authority's Commissioners and staff to improve their performance through appropriate vision, training, and career development. To establish performance goals and objectives that meets or exceeds industry standards and that optimize the use of available resources to achieve those performance goals and objectives. To assist the town, state, and national governments in identifying and addressing community housing needs.
