About New Ulm EDA

The Housing Department is located within the city hall building and works in conjunction with the New Ulm Economic Development Authority to provide affordable housing to individuals and families within our community.

The New Ulm Economic Development Authority (EDA) owns 10 family rental units that are subsidized through the Public Housing Program. These units are for families and are located in residential neighborhoods throughout New Ulm, Minnesota.

The New Ulm Economic Development Authority (EDA) administers 124 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers for Brown County, Minnesota. This program provides rental assistance to households renting housing from private landlords. Family voucher size is determined based on household size according to the EDA Administrative Plan.

Effective January 1, 2014, Section 8 HCV waiting list is open to applicants with a local preference only. To be eligible for a local preference, applicants must have a permanent legal residence, employment or be attending school full-time in Brown County, Minnesota. Proof of local preference eligibility is required.
