About Vicksburg Housing Authority

The City of Vicksburg Planning Department makes referrals to various programs that provide public housing to the citizens of the City of Vicksburg and Warren County. These programs are made possible through grants and funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. There are different requirements to qualify for each public housing program. In general, public housing and public-assisted housing is available to low income residents and senior or disabled citizens.

There is a number of different public housing communities located throughout the City of Vicksburg which are managed through the local housing authority (Vicksburg Housing Authority, 131 Elizabeth Circle, Vicksburg, Mississippi 39183, (601) 638-1661. Some are geared to senior citizens, while others are designed for families and children. Units are available in one, two, three, four and five bedrooms. Units for the elderly include all utilities except for garbage pickup. Amenities include full kitchens, hard wired smoke detectors, central heat and air, some organized recreational activities for children, emergency maintenance up until 9:00 p.m., and a washer and dryer hookup in all units.

The Vicksburg Housing Authority is not accepting applications at this time. You must be on their waiting list to qualify for a voucher. As of January 2018, they have a 15 month renovation in progress and it is uncertain when they will open the waiting list to accept applications.
