About Princeton Housing Authority

The Princeton Housing Authority was established in 1938 as a governmental, public corporation created under the laws of the state of New Jersey to provide housing for qualified individuals and families in accordance with rules and regulations prescribed by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. A board of seven Commissioners, five appointed by the town council, one by the town Mayor and one by the NJDCA, is responsible for oversight and establishing policy. It is also a requirement that one commissioner must be a Princeton Housing Authority resident. The Authority is independent from the Municipality of Princeton and is regulated by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development and the NJ Department of Community Affairs.

The Authority's mission is to provide safe and decent affordable housing to qualified low-income families and individuals. The Authority also aims to promote self-sufficiency initiatives and improve the quality of life and economic stability of its residents.
