About Piedmont Housing Alliance (PHA)

Over the years Piedmont Housing Alliance (PHA) has been very successful in drawing talented team members who have both a passion for the mission, and the capacity for the work, which can be very taxing. I believe PHA's current staff is an effective, diverse group that serves our clients, and their community, with impressive diligence.

PHA serves extremely low- to moderate income households throughout the Charlottesville area, most of whom are below poverty level, and at a serious disadvantage when it comes to finding safe and affordable homes suitable to their needs. PHA helps mediate the many structural impediments hindering these families' stability and financial growth.

PHA serves those in the community who are disadvantaged due to their disability or elderly status, as well as minorities, immigrants, and other historically underserved groups, many of which are burdened by language barriers or cultural prejudices. PHA is a regional advocate for these groups through its many targeted programs and campaigns.

PHA serves local organizations and institutions, including local governments, by providing expertise on a variety of policy and program issues such as affordable housing, civil rights, community development, homelessness, and poverty.

Mission Statement

At Piedmont Housing Alliance (PHA), our mission is to create housing and community development opportunities for very low to moderate income families and individuals, teach financial literacy and management, homebuying and home ownership skills, and advocate for affordable housing policies and programs. PHA fulfills its mission through educating, counseling, financing, and building.
